The Glorified Stranger series is my first major body of paintings. It will be exhibited with the Naked Stranger drawings as well as some literature on the dynamic between the self and the unknown other. The paintings are based off of 10 photographs of myself in which I found people in the background looking into the camera; lurking. I willingly shared space with these people and found proximity in coincided timing and location, but never met them. I never even knew they were behind me. I do now, and through the analytical process of oil painting, I’ve filled in the blanks of who they are. I hope someday, one of them will see this series.
