is this for real?

catatonic, on my couch, i was subjected to this sadistic Canadian torture. the episode i endured involves a father forcing his children to don tracking devices in order to monitor and reduce the amount of time they spend in the shower. he later imposes orange jumpsuits upon them, that allow their sweat glands to “breathe better,” lessening the need for bathing and further limiting their water consumption. the resulting decline in the personal hygiene of the children had a devastating effect on their social and academic success. they reacted in futile protest, and eventually conceded.

i couldn’t bear to stick around for the episode’s ending. it was a sick display of tyranny, miserliness, and subjugation. yet above all i was considerably more upset by the opening sequence, and the fact that it was shot in 2009. YES, 2009.
